We’re a young and growing business, and we couldn’t be more grateful to the fantastic clients who have found and trusted us! We’ve created a safe, home-like environment where we can care for up to 10 dogs at a time, because we know how challenging it can be to find reliable, quality dog care.

Large corporate boarding facilities often lack that warm, homey touch, with employees who may come and go, and dogs crated early in the evening. Their services also tend to come with a hefty price tag. As a local “mom & pop” option, we offer the personalized care your dog deserves at more affordable rates.

It can be tough to find a provider who takes this responsibility as seriously as we do, combining exceptional customer service with a homestyle approach. That’s why we’re so excited to bring this much-needed dog boarding alternative to the Columbia area!

Luxury Suite

Your pup will enjoy a roomy indoor suite for mealtime, bedtime, or those rare moments when both Dan and I are out of the house.

Here, dogs get to be dogs! That means tons of time outside the suite, hanging out in our spacious play areas where they can run, roll around, and unwind to their heart’s content! 🐶🎾

If your pup cannot be trusted not to chew on or destroy nice things, they will sleep and eat in a standard dog crate.

Doggy Slumber Party

It’s an overnight stay where your dog enjoys an exciting evening with fellow pups, filled with playtime and cozy sleep spots—no kennels or crates in sight! Each dog will be fed separately to ensure a safe mealtime.

This option is exclusively for dogs who are on their best behavior—interested in booking? Your pup must book the luxury suite for their first visit to determine if they are a good fit for this option. Pricing will look ridiculously high until they are approved for this booking offer.

VID Family Dog Stay

VERY IMPORTANT DOG (V.I.D.)

We roll out the red carpet for your Very Important Dog, welcoming one or two families of pups to join our home at a time. With this package, your dog gets full access to the entire house—no kennels, just pure freedom!

To book this VID treatment, your pup needs to be a social butterfly who’s best buddies with cats, dogs, and kids. When bedtime rolls around, they’ll snooze on a comfy dog bed right in our bedroom, just like our own fur baby, Mango.

Similarly to the slumber party option, your dog must book the luxury suite for their first visit. Once approved for the V.I.D. option, pricing will be discounted to match the below.

Private Luxury Suites

Here at Stoney Horse Acres, your furry friend will enjoy the lap of luxury with all the comforts of home (and then some!). These suites are designed with a cozy, homey vibe to help pups feel at ease while you’re away.

Each suite features:

  • A luxury dog bed designed to look and feel like a miniature couch so your pup can lounge like royalty in style and comfort.

  • A private nightstand for storing cherished belongings—whether it’s a favorite chew toy or a treasured blankie.

  • A plush, machine-washable rug to keep paws comfy and clean.

  • A stylish fake plant, perfect for sniffing and pretending it’s real (we won’t tell!).

  • Dog-themed artwork to inspire wag-worthy dreams.

  • And a trendy chandelier, because why shouldn’t your pup dine under fine lighting?

Though these suites take a bit of extra TLC to clean, the smiles, snoozes, and tail wags they inspire make it all worth it. We believe every dog deserves a space as special as they are! 🐕🛋️

  • This is a perfect option if you only need a few hours of care!

    Up to 5 hours of daycare.

    The enrichment activity is not guaranteed for half-day dogs.

Recent weekend events.

Yappy hour.

This weekend’s pups enjoyed a beef broth and peanut butter blended drink on the rocks garnished with a chew stick and a dollop of whipped cream.

Ballpit party.

This weekend’s pups enjoyed sniffing out treats in the ball pit. Some were a little timid at first, but once they figured out the goal, it was all fun!

 Requirements to Join the Pack

  • Rabies and distemper are required to stay.

    All dogs must be on a vet-prescribed flea, tick, and heartworm medication.

    Bordatella is highly recommended, but not required. However, if your dog is vaccinated for Bordatella (also called Kennel Cough), they cannot visit for at least two weeks after receiving this vaccine.

  • All dogs over the age of 8 months must be spayed or neutered.

  • All dogs must be friendly and safe with other dogs.

  • Our setup spans two floors and dogs generally go up and down the stairs multiple times a day. If your dog has an injury that could become worse from going up and down stairs, you should not send them here.

  • If your dog has an alpha personality or humps other dogs excessively, they cannot come. We must keep the safety of the other dogs a top priority.

  • If your dog cannot safely play with tiny Pomeranians, XL Great Danes and every size in-between, they cannot come.

  • If your dog jumps fences, they cannot come.

  • If your dog has been dismissed from another daycare or pack play setting, they cannot come.

  • If your dog marks inside excessively, they cannot come. Exceptions can be made if you provide male wraps and they do not pull them off consistently.

  • We cannot accept breeds known for being excellent guard dogs or for dog fighting. Mixed-breed dogs can be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

  • We enjoy a happy bark, but it's considered excessive if your dog barks non-stop for 10 to 15 minutes (or more) without calming down.

    Occasional barks (like when someone knocks on the door) are okay.

    Persistent barking disrupts the calm for other dogs, our team, and neighbors.

    Solutions for Excessive Barkers

    Medication for Stress-Related Barking:
    Some clients have found that using vet-prescribed Trazodone helps calm dogs that bark excessively due to separation anxiety or other stress factors.

    Collar Solutions:
    Other pet parents have had success with high-quality vibration or spray collars. These devices are triggered by the dog's neck vibration (rather than sound) to prevent accidental activation when nearby dogs bark.

    Trial Stay Opportunity:
    We've seen dogs known for barking under previous sitters naturally thrive in our care (without a collar or medications). If you're unsure about your dog's behavior, we can arrange a short-stay trial before committing to longer stays. Some dogs that bark excessively may thrive in our doogy-slumber-party or family-dog boarding options.

    Bark Training:
    Training your dog to minimize barking is another effective approach. There are several methods depending on the triggers, but a key principle is to ignore unwanted barking and reward quiet behavior—never reinforcing the barking with attention.

    Alternative Boarding Options:
    If your dog is an excessive barker and you are not interested in any of the above solutions, a commercial kennel might be a better fit. In those settings, where owners are not on-site, dogs are allowed to bark as much as they want all night.

  • If your dog has been coughing, has runny/goopy eyes, has a UTI, or any other symptoms, they cannot come.
